Tenbury Wells Mistletoe Festival First Short Story Competition
Feel its history. Uncover its mythology; its part in every day human life. What does it have to say about today or tomorrow?
The TWMF is looking for an enticing, innovative short story that deals with mistletoe. What about it excites you?
Entries of 1800 to 2500 words by 31st October. Winners will be announced in the press during the festival (1-3 Dec) and extracts from the winning stories will be published in the Shropshire Star over the Christmas period.

Novel Bursary
MCNA is awarding an £18,000 writer’s bursary to allow a promising writer to dedicate up to 12 months writing a work of fiction. The bursary is open to novices as well as experienced writers. Its aim is to provide the successful candidate with the assistance to allow time for writing, with a view to completing the novel within 12 months. You can write about any subject as long as it is substantially a work of imagination and fiction and you retain full copyright over your work. Fish-Knife Award

Lion Books Competition
Lion Children's Books are looking for an inspiring and engaging new author to impress a panel of judges with their sparkling stories for young children - giving you the chance to win £1000 and a chat with the judges over lunch about writing. The winning story - between 300 and 800 words - will be written for a picture storybook and will incorporate the gentle Christian values found in Lion Children's books. The panel of judges will include: Lois Rock (Commissioning Editor for Lion Children's Books), Bob Hartman (Popular performance storyteller), Geraldine McCaughrean (3 times Whitbread Award winner).
